What is CEREC technology?
CEREC stands for Chairside Economical
Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics.
This techology uses Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing
which is over 20 years old.
How does the CEREC technology work?
We use three elements to implement our CEREC technology: a camera (optical scanner), a computer, and a milling unit.
The camera accurately captures the details on the tooth and sends the magnified information to the CEREC computer software.
The computer software displays a colored 3-D image of the tooth. Dr. Patino uses CAD (Computer Aided Design) technology to design the restoration to fit your tooth precisely. This information is wireless transferred to our milling unit.
The milling unit uses CAM (Computer Aided Manufacturing) technology to create a precise restoration while you rest in the chair. Diamond burrs mill the beautiful porcelain block (metal-free), carefully matched to your tooth color.
Using state-of-the-art adhesive dentistry, your tooth gets restored with the precise fit of the porcelain onlay/inlay/crown.
