What should I expect in my first visit?
To establish yourself into Elizabeth Patino, DMD, PA’s dental practice, we evaluate your dental status comprehensively. We analyze your medical history, temporomandibular joint (TMJ), muscles of mastication, palpable cervical lymph nodes, perform a thorough oral cancer screening, and focus on your teeth. To diagnose your dental condition, we also use current radiographic examination.
Your dental health and possible needs are thoroughly discussed individually with every patient. A clear understanding of your status is our goal. We are also proud to work in conjunction with great specialists in different fields in dentistry when needed.
Don’t let your fears keep you away from excellent dental care!
We recognize and understand that a significant percentage of the population avoids regular dental care because of apprehension and fear. With special care, understanding, and sometimes medication, we can help you overcome your fears of dental treatment and restore your dental health.
Want to look younger?
Besides focusing in your dental health and beautiful smile, in just minutes, we can temporarily enhance the aged appearance of your face caused by forehead wrinkles, frown lines and "crow's feet". With vast knowledge of face and neck anatomy, we offer a detailed examination of the muscles used in your facial expressions that may be contributing to an aged appearance. Botox® can be easily combined with your next routine dental appointment ... call for further details and see if Botox® is right for you!
Want brighter Teeth?
The Pola Night treatment is a take home do-it-yourself kit to be applied to your teeth in the comfort of your own home. We make custom fitted trays to allow you to whiten your smile at home while you sleep. You can wear the trays with Pola Night inside overnight or for as little as 40 minutes a day (depending on the concentration indicated by the doctor). You repeat this procedure for about 5 - 10 nights depending on requirements.
What is tooth whitening?
Tooth whitening is the process by which the discolorations of the enamel are lightened.
How long will it last?
This will depend on the patient, and the patient's oral habits. The average person will require periodic touch ups once or twice a year.
Is the treatment safe?
Yes. Clinical studies have shown that bleaching under the supervision of a dental professional is safe for teeth and gums. We, as your dental professional will advise you on how to use the Pola Day and Pola Night take home kits.
How white will my teeth get?
This will depend on your teeth - everyone's teeth are different. If your teeth are heavily stained from coffee or smoking, you will probably see a big change. If your teeth are not heavily stained, the change will not be as great.
How much does it cost?
The take home systems are less expensive than the in-office system. Call for your appointment and we will explain more and advise you on the price.
Are my teeth more easily stained now that they have been whitened?
No, the chance of staining your teeth are not increased once they have been whitened, if you follow the post treatment care instructions given.
Do over-the-counter bleaching systems I can buy direct from the companies work as well?
No, these systems do not require the expertise of your dental professional so the trays are not perfectly fitted to your teeth. At the very least, you need custom made trays from your dental professional. Sensitivity is often a problem if your trays are not properly fitted. The bleaching solution is not evenly distributed over the teeth, and saliva can seep in to dilute the solution. Many over-the-counter systems contain an acidic rinse which can remove significant amounts of the tooth structure. These types of systems usually contain a lower amount of peroxide, hence they are not as strong as what we can prescribe.
